November Update: Exciting News from HFF!

Home for Families Canine Companions Facility Dog Tatum sits with her Home for Families handler on the front steps of Home for Families in Columbus, Ohio

Introducing our new facility dog, Tatum!
We are thrilled to share that we have recently added an important new member to our staff! Thanks to a partnership with Canine Companions™, Home for Families recently received our own facility dog to serve our clients and families. Canine Companions provides facility dogs at no cost to clients across the country and in Canada, and the organization highly trains each dog beyond the role of a comfort or therapy animal. We're proud to be the first housing organization of our kind in Ohio -- and one of only a few in the entire country -- that has received a Canine Companions facility dog. Tatum is a 2.5-year-old Labrador/Golden Retriever Cross, and she knows over 40 commands! She will help us provide trauma-informed care and therapeutic comfort to families during intake meetings, home visits, and more. While our facility dog will primarily interact with our families, Tatum will also provide support to our staff. We are incredibly grateful to Canine Companions for providing Tatum and the opportunity to expand our programming to better serve our families. Learn more about Tatum and the journey that led to our partnership with Canine Companions!

Bring joy to families this season: Host a toy drive!
An easy way to participate in our Holiday Joy! program is by hosting a toy drive! It's a fun way to connect with friends, family, and coworkers, and it's a crucial way we can help empower our families struggling with housing insecurity, regardless of their holiday affiliations and practices. If a toy drive seems like too much to take on, you can still contribute to our Holiday Joy! program by signing up for our family sponsorship program: Upon registering, you'll receive a child's holiday wish list, including their top three gift items. Learn more about all the ways you can participate!

Give the gift of stable housing.
Housing is a human right. Giving Tuesday is just around the corner (Tuesday, December 3rd!), and with it comes an important opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of families in our community struggling with housing insecurity. Your donation will help shorten shelter stays, reduce evictions, and create brighter futures for our families. Learn more
